Records and Tours


The first phase in the career of Mieskuoro Huutajat is documented on the EP Record "Pohjoinen kotimaamme", which was a surprise hit in the Finnish single charts at #8 in 1988. It includes the basic patriotic songs. From then on, the choir have expanded their repertoire with children's ditties, worker's songs, national anthems and quotes from Finnish laws and international treaties.

The second EP "Six National Anthems" was released in 1990 by Poko Records.

The third recording, "H.Y.V.Ä", was released at the 1994 Roskilde Festival by Bad Vugum. The CD version contains also the EP "Six National Anthems".

The fourth Mieskuoro Huutajat release, their first full lenght album, "10th Anniversary Concert" was released in Scandinavia in May 1998 by Bad Vugum, and in June 1998 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux by Tug Records.
The album was recorded live at the 10th anniversary concert of Huutajat in their home town, Oulu, December 6th, 1997.




Mieskuoro Huutajat have toured abroad dozens of times, performing in Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Denmark, Iceland, England, Wales, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Serbia-Montenegro, Portugal, U.S.S.R. (R.I.P.), U.S.A., Canada and Japan. But never in Spain. The choir have surfaced in e.g. chamber music halls, rock festivals, jazz clubs, choir festivals, art galleries and museums, railway stations, supermarkets, construction sites, olympic stadiums, occupied houses, mountaintops, ocean shores and wet swamps.
